Encompassing a range of districts steeped in history dating back to the Middle Ages. Commonly referred to as Arts et Metiers and shares a district of Marais with the 4th arrondiseement. This is the smallest area after Bourse.

Rich

History & Culture

Dating back to the 13th Century, this district is home to the oldest surviving private residence of Paris, built in 1407 at 52 rue de Monmorency. Landmark stores sell traditional Jewish food in the ancient Jewish quarter. A slowly expanding Chinatown mostly inhabited by Wenzhou immigrants centres on the rue au Maire.

Musée des Arts et Métiers.

Founded in 1794 as a repository for the preservation of scientific instruments and inventions, this industrial design museum houses the collection of the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers.

Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation.

Set up in 2003 by the photographer and painter Cartier-Bresson, The Foundation hosts four solo exhibitions per year by a variety of photographers, painters, sculptors, and illustrators, and a changing exhibition of Cartier-Bresson's own work all the time
